Never shall i forget the first english lesson given by miss liu. on thatday, when she entered the classroom, we found that she was a young and beautifullady with a big smile on her face. then she introduced herself saying that weshould call her miss liu instead of teacher liu, a moment later, she let all ofus go to the blackboard and say something about ourselves in english in turn.when it was my turn, i felt so shy and fearful that i didn’t dare to say a wordbefore the class. she came up to me and said kindly, “don’t be afraid. i believeyou can do it. come and have a try.” my face turned red when i heard that. atlast, i went to the blackboard and was able to do it quite well. she praised forwhat i had done. up to now, i can still remember her words in the first englishlesson: “practice makes perfect. don’t lose your courage when you meet withdifficulties. try on and on until you succeed.”

dragon boat festival, often known as tuen ng festival or duan wu festival,is a traditional chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month ofthe chinese calendar. it is also known as the double fifth.[citation needed] ithas since been celebrated, in various ways, in other parts of east asia as well, most notably korea.
the e_act origins of duan wu are unclear, but one traditional view holdsthat the festival memorializes the chinese poet qu yuan of the warring statesperiod. he committed suicide by drowning himself in a river because he wasdisgusted by the corruption of the chu government. the local people, knowing himto be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fishes toprevent them from eating qu's body. they also sat on dragon boats, and tried toscare the fishes away by the thundering sound of drums aboard the boat and thefierce looking dragon-head in the front of the boat.
in the early years of the chinese republic, duan wu was also celebrated as"poets' day", due to qu yuan's status as china's first poet of personalrenown.
today, people eat zongzi (the food originally intended to feed the fishes)and race dragon boats in memory of qu's dramatic death.

Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began tonarrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL andMatlab, I designed a simulationprogram for transportation scheduling system. Itis now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilleda sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewagetreatment plant. Thiswas my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory andexperience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future researchinterests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research(especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybridsystem performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.
Traveling is kind of like being in love. Except instead of being intimatewith another person, you become intimate with a place. Those moments of pleasurewhen the sun hits your face and you look out onto a foreign countryside, orarrive at a new train depot in a bustle of taxis and hawkers—those are themoments you, or at least I, remember, and live for, again and again.

We are not going to evade that responsibility. We are going to let peopledown. And people, far and near, will hear of us. Frost will be brought to theirbackbones and tears to their eyes when our stories are told and retold, So letus go forth, my fellow members of this luckily chosen generation, and meet thenew century in victory and glory.
Knowing the Consequences of Choice
Over the past Spring Festival, I got involved in a family dispute. Rightbefore I got home, four satellite channels of CCTV were added to the 14 channelswe had already had. In prime time at night, they all had interesting shows. Therefore, the five of us-my parents, my sisters and I-had to argue over what towatch. Finally, we agreed that we should watch the "most interesting"programme... If we
could agree what that was.
However, all of us there remember that for a long time after we had TV,there were only one or two channels available. The increase in options revealsan important change in our life: the abundance of choice.
Fifteen years ago we all dressed in one style and in one colour. Today, weselect from a wide variety of designs and shades.
Good afternoon, everyone,
The national student sports program, waged by the Ministry of Education and aimed at improving students health, was held from 10:00a.m.~11:00a.m.on April 29,2019 in many primary and middle schools all over China. Almost 11 million students in Jiangsu province participated in this program.
The Ministry of Education advocates that we do exercises for one hour a day and can work healthily for 50 years. Our whole life will be very enjoyable.
In my opinion, we senior high school students should do exercises for one hour a day even though our spare time is limited. Health is a basic condition for our study. If we did not do exercises, we wouldn’t be able to get good study records. So every one of you, join the program now!
Thank you!
Time is precious. A famous Chinese saying goes like this, "Time can not bepurchased with gold." Time is so valuable that nothing can buy it. So it's a bigpity if we waste time. The lost time can't come back. Life is limited, which isjust as long as several decades. So we shouldn't waste time. We must realizethat wasting time means wasting our lives.
Unfortunately, although people know the value of time, they have beenalways wasting time. Some people squander even all their time watching TV,surfing on the Internet, playing video games and so on. As a result, they failto do anything well.
Time is our wealth. Therefore, we should make good use of time to domeaningful things, such as studying, working, doing exercises, instead of lyingin bed, looking at the ceiling, In short, we should devote our' time to therealization of our dreams and thus make contributions to our society.
If I were a boy again, I would practice perseverance(毅力)more often, andnever give up a thing because it was hard or inconvenient. If we want light, wemust conquer darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results.“There are only two creatures,” says a proverb, “who can surmount thepyramids—the eagle and the snail.”
If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; Iwould let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember thata good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once. The habit ofattention becomes part of our life, if we begin early enough. I often heargrown-up people say “I could not fix my attention on the lecture or book, although I wished to do so” , and the reason is, the habit was not formed inyouth.
If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to thecultivation of the memory. I would strengthen that faculty by every possiblemeans, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first toremember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself, and gives very littletrouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power.
If I were a boy again, I would look on the cheerful side. Life is very muchlike a mirror: if you smile upon it, I smile back upon you; but if you frown andlook doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return.
Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that comein contact with it. “who shuts love out ,in turn shall be shut out fromlove.”
Finally, instead of trying hard to be happy, as if that were the solepurpose of life, I would, if I were a boy again, I would still try harder tomake others happy.
Good morning/afternoon/evening, my name is . It is really a great honorto have this opportunity/chance to introduce myself. I would like to answerwhatever you may raise, and I hope I can make a good performance today.

Ladies and Gentlemen: My topic is Honesty.
As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’stooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. Heoften visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted oneto keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had toleave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one ofthe teeth from the dragon’s mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at havingstolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on hisconscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decidedto put right his childish error. In 20__, he visited Qingdao and returned it tothe Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported onhis visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I thinkto err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correctone’s error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep anhonest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of myfriends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.
